 | FORMAT
The traditional Outing Cup format consists of:
Round 1: Fourball Round 2: Fourball Round 3: Singles Match Play
Fourball "Four-ball" play is a match in which each member of the two-man teams plays their own ball. Four balls are in play per hole with each of the four players recording a score on the hole. The team whose player posts the best score on that hole wins the hole.
Each hole is worth one point. Should players from each team tie for the best score, the hole is halved.
Individuals record their gross score for the round. Upon the close of the round, the official scorekeeper determines the net scoring with the application of the individual’s handicap.
The best net score for each hole among the team members is recorded as the team score for that hole.
Singles Match Play "Singles" is a match in which one player competes against another player in individual match play. Should players from each team tie for the best score, the hole is halved. A player wins the match when he is up by more holes than there are holes remaining to play.
Each hole is worth one point. Should players from each team tie for the best score, the hole is halved.
Handicaps apply. Subtract the low handicap from the high handicap. The result is the number of holes the higher handicap will receive a stroke(s). Strokes are applied in ascending order to the hole handicap set forth by the course.
Scoring Individuals participating the competition will have their individual net hole-by-hole scores recorded for each round in addition to fourball team scores and match play scores.
Any match play or fourball round discontinued due to weather or other uncontrollable variables will be recorded as a complete match if the match has exceeded nine holes of play.
Each match is worth 1 point. Ties are awarded ½ point.
In the event of a tie after all matches are complete, captains have the option to:
Settle the tie by selecting one member of each team to participate in a sudden-death singles match. Call the event a draw and payouts are split evenly. The option for either a split or sudden-death must be defined before the singles matches commence. In the event a disagreement on the tie breaker occurs, a coin flip performed by the commissioner determines the tie break method.
